Welcome to bitindex.

Welcome to bitindex! This guide will help you understand the fundamentals of the internet and get you up and running quickly.

Pre-Requisites (Must Do First) !!! info ➜ Not so fast sailor! Do this first - Recommended: Use Firefox + uBlock Origin. - Firefox is the top non-Chromium browser, offering nice security and privacy features. It also boasts the best compatibility with uBlock Origin for effectively blocking ads and other harmful web content.

Recommended: Change your DNS settings. - DNS can enhance the browsing experience by increasing speed and bypassing restrictions, as your Internet Service Provider (ISP) usually offers a slower default DNS that may censor websites according to their preferences.

  • For direct downloads: Use BypassAllShortlinksDebloated. - File hosters use redirects to force users to view ads with timers, this will avoid them. Install ViolentMonkey add-on for Firefox, then install the BypassAllShortlinksDebloated script.
  • For torrenting: Install a reputable torrent client such as qBittorrent. - Torrent client is a separate program that is essential for downloading files via torrent files, which is a method distinct from direct downloads.
  • For torrenting: Set up a VPN network such as [AirVPN}(https://airvpn.org/) or ProtonVPN. - VPN enhances online privacy and security by encrypting the connection and masking the IP address, making it ideal for torrenting as it protects your identity, and allows access to restricted content.
  • For torrenting: Bind the torrent client to the VPN interface. - Ensures torrenting only happen when the VPN is active, lowering the chances of a leak of the IP address to essentially zero. For more in-depth details, see our Torrenting + VPN Guide. !!! note ➜ Quality over quantity - The Megathread is subject to rigorous Quality Control checks, and often updated. - Visit our r/Piracy, r/Torrents communities for all the sailing discussions.

!!! danger ➜ Disclaimer - Trustworthy links that were formerly safe may occasionally turn hazardous. - The moderators do their best to maintain it, but always use care while sailing.

Safety First (Critical Rules)

  1. Only use trusted sites from this guide, FMHY, or the r/Piracy Megathread.
  2. Scan all downloaded files with [VirusTota]}(https://www.virustotal.com/) before opening. For help identifying false positives, use this Scan Guide.
  3. Never use your real email or password on untrusted sites. Use email aliasing via this guide.
  4. Avoid any site claiming to represent a scene group (CODEX, CPY, SKIDROW, etc.) – scene groups do not have public websites.
  5. Use uBlock Origin to avoid fake download buttons (usually large, bright, labeled "Download Now") – real buttons are small, text-based, and integrated into the site design.
  6. Check the FMHY Unsafe List and MediaSavvy Unsafe List regularly for updated warnings.

Privacy

I don't have anything to hide, why should I care about privacy?

Privacy is about controlling your personal information, not just keeping things secret. Non-sensitive data is used by companies to track your behavior, target ads, and influence your choices.

For email privacy, we recommend Proton and for search SearXNG. It's also good to check sites like HaveIBeenPwned to make sure your info hasn't been part of any recent data breaches.

!!!note Remember never to use your real email or password on any site you're not sure is trustworthy. It's good to use a different password on every site you register for, that way if a breach happens, only the password for that one site is compromised. You can also use email aliasing.

!!!note Keep in mind that it's never a good idea to upload personal or confidential files to any file host / cloud AI, even if they claim to be encrypted.

Windows Guide

How can I download / activate Windows for free?

Download an ISO from Massgrave's Genuine Installation Media page, and follow the Clean Install Windows Guide to install it. After install, activate it with Microsoft Activation Scripts. If you'd like to use Windows 10 past its End-Of-Life date, follow Windows 10 After EOL.

Note you can turn on file extensions for all files by opening File Explorer, clicking on the "View" menu, and checking the box next to "File name extensions."

Torrenting

Do I need a VPN to torrent?

Downloading files through torrenting can cause issues with your ISP, so using a VPN is a must in most countries. You should also bind your VPN to your torrent client. This ensures that if your VPN connection drops, your torrent client stops all traffic, preventing your real IP address from being exposed. You can also use Remote Torrenting Services to avoid the need for a VPN altogether.

What is Port Forwarding? Do I need it?

Port forwarding (having an open port) is an essential part of torrenting and it's recommended to set it up. While it's not strictly needed, it benefits the swarm, can sometimes boost download speeds, and improves connectability for torrents with fewer seeds.

Beginner FAQs How do I be safe while downloading?

  1. Use a VPN for torrenting and bind it to your client.
  2. Install uBlock Origin.
  3. Only use sites listed in this guide.
  4. Scan files with VirusTotal or VTonColab.
  5. Use common sense. What's the difference between DDL and torrents?Direct Download (DDL): File hosted on a central server, downloaded directly to your device. No VPN required. Torrent: P2P file sharing from other users' devices. Requires a VPN to avoid ISP DMCA notices. What antivirus should I use? Windows Defender + occasional Malwarebyte scans are sufficient. Extra antiviruses are unnecessary bloatware.

How do I download Adobe products? Use M0nkrus (use a VPN, avoid collections) or crack them yourself with GenP.

What if VirusTotal flags a crack as malicious? False positives are common for cracks/keygens. Only trust detections from well-known engines (Bitdefender, Microsoft Defender, Malwarebytes) – ignore unknown engines.

Important Links

NOTE

This is a community-driven project. If you find any issues, please let us know!

Big free media wikis like FMHY, r/Piracy, Awesome, Wotaku.wiki, EverythingMoe and various lists contain thousands of links. Among them, you will find both good and bad, active and dead, safe and risky resources mixed together.

bitindex solves this problem.

We carefully curate and index only the best of the best resources. In every single section, we strictly limit ourselves to a maximum of 20 high-quality, reliable, and actively maintained sites.

Our goal is simple:

Provide you with a clean, focused, and trustworthy index — without the noise, clutter, or low-quality entries found in larger wikis.

Here you will only find carefully selected, top-performing free media websites and tools.

Thank you for using bitindex.
